IEDD QA / QC Course

This intensive 2-week programme has been designed to provide the requisite skills and practice to personnel responsible for conducting IEDD quality assurance & the control of Improvised Explosive Device Training and operations in a High Threat environment.

Quality Management in Mine Action

Quality management (QM) in mine action is based on the International Mine Action Standards, which are in turn based on the ISO9000 family. In the past, there has been a focus on the accreditation of organisations and the control of quality of land that has been cleared, but there are significant benefits in a much wider systematic approach to QM that includes all humanitarian mine action processes from planning to audit.

IEDD Quality Assurance – Quality Control Officers will be responsible to the Programme Manager (PM) and/or the Chief of Operations (CoO). He/she will oversee the development and implementation of technical standards from the beginning to the end of clearance operations - including planning, training, executing and all stages leading to the clearance of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).

The course is based on IMAS 07.12 and UN IEDD standards  which combine a number of UN core Quality Management training modules with specifically tailored content focusing on IEDD operations.

On satisfactory completion of the course, the individual will have the skills, knowledge and practical experience to conduct IEDD quality assurance and manage operations. Accredited DRAKON IEDD certification will be awarded to successful students.
